BMW Fest @ Trade Route 30 March 2014

BMW Summer Fest  –

30 March 2014

Trade Route Mall

Lenasia, Gauteng

It started out as a quiet Sunday morning as grey skies hovered over us. We anticipated rain as weather reports indicated possible showers over Gauteng, however the setup at Trade Route Mall began, expecting drivers and enthusiasts to visit and partake in the BMW Summer Fest arranged by Driven SA and Auto Glen Motors.

The silence was suddenly flushed away by the glorious sounds of 6 cylinder E30s. The sound of roaring E30 box beemers echoing in Lenz was just beautiful.

I mean, Lenz, usually so peaceful and calm on a Sunday morning, you would believe you were at a race meeting.

Anyway, with some crews meeting up at a rendezvous point and entering as a convoy, or others just going for a breakfast run before heading to Trade Route Mall, the cars and started pulling in after 10am, exhibitors were busy setting up their stands, the likes of Speed and Sound, Auto Glen Motors, Smash & Grab Tinting as well as Breathalyser testers amongst others.

Drivers took to their areas designated by the organisers, to park and show their “just prepared” beemers for the spectators who started strolling in and out the entire day.

The E30s were the early arrivals for the day

Smash and Grab had their own soccer star who kept the crowd entertained by tapping and tapping the soccer ball for around 5 min or so per set

Speed and Sound had their share of cars on show

Auto Glen brought the new X5 and 3 Series

A bit of old-school attended too!

I know these are not BMW’s but they worth looking at…..

Customised Trailer…

…and X6

Convertibles, coupes & M’s were the order of the day

Even the BMW S1000rr hp4 made an appearance along with its bodyguards!

This baby pushes out 142kw @ 13,000rpm, and 112Nm @ 9,750 rpm. Enough to challenge any M or any thing………….on that day.

Mercedes CLK63, adding some class to the event J !

Till next time !
